Japan LA, a hot spot for Japanese pop culture merchandise on famous Melrose Ave in L.A, celebrated their 7-Year Anniversary this year and threw a party inside the store to commemorate the occasion. The party attracted local Kawaii style lovers alike who could shop for cute merchandise including Lime Crime cosmetics and Locketship accessories pop-up shops inside the store. Some of my most adorable friends showed up for the party in true Kawaii spirit!
IMATS (International Make-up Artist Trade Show) is the largest make-up show in the world and is held once a year in Los Angeles, New York, London, Vancouver, B.C, Sydney and Toronto. Thousands of makeup artists, vendors and makeup enthusiasts gather to shop the latest products and hear celebrity artists speak and demonstrate their craft with live models. I always have such a great time seeing friends in the makeup biz and meeting new people! IMATS has rolled around again (way earlier than usually scheduled) and I did not get a chance to post about the last show from June 2012 yet! I had so much fun and have tons of pictures to share from the entire weekend! So be prepared for a big glitterific picture post!
Lil Rae Cakes, founded by the fun-loving and wildly creative baker Jenny Rae
(pictured above with me) recently celebrated 2 years in the Cake Ball business and to mark this special occasion, Jenny threw a fun anniversary party at Sweet Harts Bakery in Sherman Oaks, CA where her famous cake balls are sold. The party had an entertaining Pee Wee Herman theme which included a photo booth, costume contest and special appearance by singer/ entertainer and my favorite mermaid, Traci Hines! But the star of the night was most definitely the AMAZINGLY delicious Cake Balls that Jenny Rae made in a vast assortment of mouth-watering flavors and colors!
To show gratitude for all the support Japan received after the 2011 East Japan earthquake and tsunami one year ago, the Japan Consulate presented this all day event at The Grove, a popular outdoor shopping center in Los Angeles. The event showcased Japanese food, tourism, traditional culture and technology at various booths throughout The Grove. Some of the highlights included a Kimono Show, Tea Ceremony, a signing by Simone Legno, creator of the Tokidoki brand, and
a Japanese Fashion show presented by Bubble Punch!
Fashion Show VIDEO at the end of this post! ♥
In November of 2011, the Los Angeles-based jewelry line, Locketship celebrated their 4-Year Anniversary at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood. Maria Ewing, creator of the whimsical jewelry line, also launched a new collection for Locketship called “Galactic Glitter” and showcased it at the party. I was excited to come help her celebrate her Anniversary and see pieces in the new collection! In honor of the Galactic Glitter launch, the party had a “Space” theme and guests were encouraged to dress in their most cosmically-influenced attire!
